Description
These three bronze ritual bells come from India. I don't know how old they are - they've been made since at least the 1800s into the Mid 20th Century. I presume they're from the latter period. I found a reference to them (unfortunately no images) on the website of the British Museum, described as "bronze religious ritual rattles, dumb-bell shape, spherical terminals, pierced and containing pellets". These have iron ball pellets in the pierced ends and some type of chimes in the cylinders. When shaken they sound just like sleigh bells. The bells are about 7-1/2, 6-1/2, and 4-3/4 inches long. Each has a different melodious chime. They're quite heavy and are decorated with flower-like tooling. I lightened the photos to better show the design detail.
Almost all my items are antique or vintage and come from a variety of sources. I cannot guarantee that any item is from a smoke-free or pet-free home.
